5 Beautiful Destinations in Argentina That Will Leave You Breathless

Argentina is one of the most breathtaking countries in South America. Known for its dance, food, wine, landscapes, and stunning architecture, it is the perfect destination to visit when you want to see it all! From the Southern parts of Patagonia to its Northern border, Argentina will have you in awe. Although there are so many places in Argentina that will take your breath away, below is some information on five places that are particularly special!

Perito Moreno Glacier

Perito Moreno

The Perito Moreno Glacier is truly one of the most breathtaking places to visit in all of Patagonia. Perito Moreno Glacier comes from the Southern Patagonian Icefield which is the 3rd largest frozen reservoir of fresh water in the world. Its outer face that visitors can see from a nearby viewing deck stands at over 70 meters tall above the water’s edge. Located only 70km from the town of El Calafate in Argentina’s south, Perito Moreno Glacier is a destination everyone must visit in Patagonia.

What makes this glacier stand apart from the rest is that it is actually growing and not receding. This means that Perito Moreno Glacier is truly alive. As you stand on the small viewing platform only a mere 50 meters away, the Perito Moreno Glacier can put on a show like no other. As you watch giants pieces of ice explode away from its huge face and splash into the freezing water below you get a front row seat to one of nature’s oldest and most spectacular formations.

Mount Fitzroy

Mount Fitzroy in the distance

The town of El Chalten is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, turquoise lakes and towering mountain peaks. One of the most famous and breathtaking views, however, is at the end of the Mount Fitzroy trail. This stunning trail leads you through the lower forest areas of Patagonia where you're likely to see animals like woodpeckers and foxes.

To get to the breathtaking views of Mount Fitzroy and the lake at its base you will need to tackle the last and most gruelling part of the hike which is the final 1 km. However, once you reach the top, all that hard work quickly becomes worth it. From the edge of the blue lake, you can stare up at Mount Fitzroy and let that view take your breath away!

Iguazu Falls

Iguazu Falls
Not many waterfalls are quite as breathtaking as Iguazu Falls in Argentina's north. This great wonder is shared between two countries, Brazil, and Argentina. Each country boasts its own unique view but none are quite as impressive as the view from Argentina. One of the highlights from the Argentinean side includes starring down into the Devil's Throat - a “U” shaped section in the middle of the falls that is both fierce and memorizing.

Iguazu falls is the largest waterfall system in the world and every second 1800 cubic meters of water flows over its edges. The falls are actually made up of between 150 to 300 waterfalls (depending on season and rainfall)! It's not just the falls that make this place so picturesque though, it's also the surrounding lush green rainforest that clings to the steep terrain. Iguazu Falls is truly unique and arguably the most impressive waterfall in the world!

Mendoza

mendoza
Mendoza is a small city nestled in the heart of Argentina's wine country. Surrounded by snow-covered peaks this wine region is situated in one of the most stunning places on earth. In the summer months, the valley warms up making wine tours the perfect way to spend the day.
The region around Mendoza is famous for world-class Malbec and there isn't a shortage of wineries to check out.

These wineries use some of the cleanest water in the world to water their crops and the area is famous for organic farming practices.
Spending the day sipping on world-class wine with views of the mountains is one breathtaking way to spend a day!

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is Argentina's largest city and also its capital. Buenos Aires is sometimes referred to as "the Paris of South America" because of its well preserved Spanish architecture. This architecture towers above the busy streets and stretches as far as the eye can see.
But it's not just the architecture that makes Buenos Aires so breathtaking; it is also home to one of the most stunning botanical gardens in Latin America.

Buenos Aires is a culturally rich city and vibrant city. The city's passion for the arts is easily experienced in one of the 300 theatres around the city. Colorful building line the streets complete with detailed murals. With so much history, culture, and well-preserved architecture it's no wonder Buenos Aires is the most visited city in all of South America!
